 Introduction

1.            Science the earliest days, education has been highly regarded in Myanmar. The strong tradition of monastic education has contributed significantly to a high literacy level since the time of the Myanmar kings. Nowadays, education places more emphasis, however, on the formal system with its schools and institutions at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. The Ministry of Education (MOE) and 12 other ministries provide varied and diverse courses for learning in higher education sector, but the MOE is also responsible for basic education schools for all children.

BackGround

2.            Under the supervision of Ministry of Education (MOE) the only one Department of Basic Education (DBE) was carried out Basic Educational affairs until 1998 March. According to reformation of the Ministry of Education in Myanmar , Department of Basic Education No.3 (DBE-3) begin at 1st April 1998 because of DBE's large amount of work volume. In addition, Ministry of Education was separated by Higher Education Sector and Basic Education Sector. At the Higher Education Sector, two Departments were formed namely Department of Higher Education (Lower Myanmar) and Department of Higher Education (Upper Myanmar).

          At the Basic Education Sector, Seven Departments were formed as follow :-

(a) Department of Basic Education No.1 (DBE-1)

(b) Department of Basic Education No.2 (DBE-2)

(c ) Department of Basic Education No.3 (DBE-3)

(d) Department of Educational Planning and Training (DEPT)

(e) Department of Myanmar Educational Research Bureau (DMERB)

(f) Department of Myanmar Language Commission (DMLC) and

(g) Department of Board of Matriculation Examinations (DBME)

Amount these Departments, DBE-3 has responsible for Yangon Regional area and started at Basic Education High School No.6 Botataung Campus as a Headquarter.
Now, Address is No.591, Lower Kyeemyindyne Road, Kyeemyindyne Township,

Yangon.DBE-3  transferred to present Location that mention in above at 1 ^st April 2001.  Now we have four District Educational Officers  and  their Offices as well as one regional Educational Director Officer and his office namely Yangon Regional Education Office. Northern District Educational Office located in Insein Township, Eastern District Educational Office located in ThinGunGyun Township, Southern District Educational Office located in ThanLyin Township and Western District Educational Office located in Lamandaw Township respectively. One Yangon Regional Education Office is embedded in DBE-3.Under the supervision of DBE-3, one Regional Education Office, four District Education Offices, forty-five Township Education Offices and 2726 schools are carries out educational affair harmoniously.
